Episode 20: The Lunar Base Infiltration Airing Date 2000-03-31 Lady Une, as mentioned in this column previously, has totally lost her mind. When in uniform, she's Killer Une. When her hair's let down and her glasses are off, she's peace-lovin' hippy child Lady U-Love Me. We're not sure what exactly's going on in that twisted noggin' of hers but I'm guessing the knowledge of her past, blood-drenched deeds plus prolonged exposure to Treize Khushrenada might have something to do with it. Not that Treize is a bad guy but, like all the other men in the "Gundam Wing" universe, he doesn't know to close a deal. Let's dish. Relena lusts after Heero and he lusts after her, too. Yet for all their heavy sighing, nothing's happened. Lucrezia Noin has outright admitted that she's in love with Zechs/Milliardo. He's too busy changing names and changing sides to even be aware of her affections. Sally Po seems to have something going on with Wufei, even if it's in a teacher/student kind of way. Catherine Bloom's clearly in love with Trowa, even if she's too young to know it herself. Then again, you can't blame Trowa for steering clear of Catherine since her job is to bury knives inches from his head and, ahem, other parts of his body. One lover's tiff and he'd be hating life, big time. But I digress... Finally, we turn our attention back to Lady U. Maybe she's gone bonkers because Treize won't act on his emotions. Unless he's got the hots for Zechs (which is definitely a possibility) Treize has no reason to keep Lady U waiting in line. In other words, it's not surprising that more people aren't completely crazy! All this pent up heat not being let loose is a dangerous thing. In "The Lunar Base Infiltration" Trowa Barton, posing as a Colony-based pilot who's up for the job of piloting one of the 5 scientists' new Mobile Suits, deflates Lady's hippy child act with a few carefully chosen words. Then, after running off in tears, she returns in her Colonel Une outfit acting like Trowa's her fave new flyboy. Again, whassup, Lady U? This hair gel is amazing -- even zero gravity has no affect. Know what? Maybe it's not psychological at all. Maybe there's some airborne space virus which affects a person's mind. Case in point -- moments later Heero attempts to destroy the two new Mobile Suits and fails. Trowa leaps (literally) into action and arrests his fellow Gundam pilot. We're left wondering if this is the end for our hero, Heero. Since there are 29 episodes left, we may assume it isn't. Still, what the heck's going on? Finally, there's Quatre's men and Sally Po fighting over the not-so-destroyed Sandrock. Sally wants to destroy the thing, the Maganac dudes want to steal it so it can be restored. The men wind up taking the beat-up Gundam with them for repairs. Which brings us to today's other big news -- Trowa proves his loyalty to OZ by destroying Duo's beloved Deathscythe. At least you can't say the Gundam men can't pull the trigger when it comes to explosions, right? --Ross Brooks thinks everyone on "Gundam Wing" needs to speak to Chuck Woolery.
